Magnificent brass Lota or water vessel with a rich dark patina, handcrafted by artisans from the southern part of India, with a lovely, curved shape and fine and delicate inscriptions of worshippers and Indian motifs. In India, brass Lotas are used to hold and serve water, and water is dropped from the mouth of the vessel and poured over the hands and feet to purify. This is a 18th design that is now used by urbanites as an art deco item or vase and kept in a prominent place in the house with fresh flowers.
