Paan leaves were stored in a brass Jali work Paan box from Rajasthan. Paan is a preparation that blends a spice paste in a betel leaf and is chewed for its stimulant and psychedelic properties. It is either spit out or swallowed after chewing. Paan comes in a variety of flavors. To bind the leaves, slaked lime paste (chunam) is usually used. In North India, a skillful paan maker is known as a paanwala.
