The brass oil lamp looks great in any traditional Indian home or office. It's a tall-stemmed, larger-than-life number with five trays. Each tray is designed to function as a composite lamp due to the multiple wick channels carved into them. The stem sections between each pair of trays are sculpted in perfect symmetry with one another and have the silhouette of a stupa. A peacock perches at the very top of the oil lamp. The base on which this lamp stand is its most distinctive feature. The stem beneath the bottom tray blends into the shell of a tortoise, which has been meticulously carved. A tail and four tiny legs, as well as an upward-turned head, crawl strategically out of the shell. The composition is supported by a simple, engraved pedestal the same size as the tortoise's body.
