This is an old brass pot with a spout that the temple priest or the head of the household uses to pour oil during puja worship and ceremonies at home or in the temple. Beautifully constructed, the pot has a cap with a temple pagoda form and style that is joined to the main vessel by brass hinges. The oil is poured from the spout, which has a grove to allow the oil to be poured slowly into the fire. The pot was made by South Indian artisans, and it is in superb condition with a deep patina finish.
