Mughal painting is a form of South Asian painting that arose from Persian miniature painting, with Indian Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist influences, and flourished predominantly under the Mughal Empire (16th - 19th century), and then spread to other Indian courts, Muslim, Hindu, and later Sikh. During the reigns of Akbar, Shah Jahan, and Jahangir, Mughal painting grew and flourished. A tiny handful of painters in Rajasthan continue to create Mughal-style miniature paintings today.
